Project Name: Trenchless Pipe laying of 1700mm Ø Steel Casing by Tunnel Boring Method- Supply and Discharge Pipelines for New Pasay Pump Station (Package 4)
Date: September 2011
Client: Maynilad

This project is part of Maynilad project on the Water Discharge Pipelines from the New Pasay Pumping Station and Reservoir at PAGCOR entertainment complex. The project was to tunnel below NAIA road so that water from the reservoir could be transported to the discharge lines heading to Las Piñas and Cavite. The tunnelling crossed Macapagal Boulevard and bored below NAIA Road extension towards Roxas Boulevard, Parañaque City, using a 1700mm Ø Steel Casing. Because it was rather long trenchless pipe laying, a tunnel boring machine was used. Researching on the site geology was significant. The work done was below the water table and so sump pump was used to keep the work pit dry. The tunnel boring machine deployed was Slurry Shield MJV 1700S. This was specifically suited for the soft and watery ground of the project. The soil at the tunnel face is cut and drawn into the cutting chamber, where it is pumped out as slurry. The whole pipe laying contract package was secured by J.V. Angeles Construction Corp. and the tunnelling portion sub-contracted by MCT. The project was completed in September 2011.

This was a pipeline project of Maynilad along Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas City. This project was secured by DMCI, and MCT was the subcontractor for the pipe-jacking portion. The steel casing was originally 1400mm Ø, but DMCI ordered to change it to 2100mm Ø. The pipeline had crossed two creeks, and the set-up done was to tunnel below the reinforced concrete box culvert. This particular work did not need the use of sheet piles to support the surrounding ground because the soil profile was hard and stable. It was accomplished on February 2011.

This is a portion of the Maynilad project that is to supply water to the New Pasay Pumping Station and Reservoir newly built at PAGCOR entertainment complex. Using 2100mm Ø steel casing, the line installed crossed Roxas Blvd. towards the reservoir. The entry work pit was located at Roxas Blvd., corner Ortigas street just in front of Metrobank in Pasay City. The main contractor was A. A. Ararilla, and MCT was the subcontractor for the trenchless pipe laying. This was done in December 2010.

Project Name: Proposed 250mm Ø Sewer Line along Taft Ave. cor. Quirino Ave. Manila
Date: October-December 2009.
Client: Maynilad

The project was to install a 250mm Ø PVC Sewer Line just beside the LRT Quirino Station, on the northbound lane of Taft Avenue. The size of the steel casing is 500mm Ø, and the depth of the work was about 4.5m below the surface. The project was difficult because it was grade-sensitive. The procedure done was to first use a pilot drill, and then attached to it was the 500mm Ø steel casing so it would follow the line and grade done by the initial drill. The hole that was supposed to drill should have an inclination in such a way that the water would flow from one side to another; it was challenging, but the sewer line was installed successfully in the end. This contract was done October to December 2009.

Project Name: Pipe jacking works of 2300mm Ø Steel Casing for the MWSI- 2000 mm Ø Dedicated Line to Pasay Pumping Station, located along P. Ocampo Street crossing Taft Avenue, Manila.
Date: February 2009.
Client: Maynilad

This project is a pipe-jacking work of 2300mm Ø Steel Casing that crossed Taft Ave. in P. Ocampo St. near Vito Cruz LRT Station. This is a part of Maynilad pipe-laying project that will supply water to the Pasay Pumping station. The contract package 1 of was secured by A. A. Alarilla Construction Co., Inc. and the Taft Avenue crossing portion subcontracted to Microtunnelling Const. Tech. Originally the length of the tunnelling was only 33 meters, but because of the underground obstructions, it was extended to 90 meters. The project was completed February 2009. By employing trenchless tunnelling work, the traffic flow along the busy area in Taft Avenue was undisturbed.

Client: Linear Construction Corp. for Maynilad

The diameter of the installed pipe is 900mm steel casing, 16mm thick. Length of the work is 70m. A 600mm Ø carrier pipe (pipe that will transport the water) will be installed inside steel casing, and the space in between will be grouted. This project is called APM-6 GAPS because this is one of the ‘gaps’ or uncompleted project from the original project APM.
